Silverfil works just like any other amalgam filling, employing the same usage and handling techniques, but minus the problems of excess mercury within the fillings.

BPA, of course, is a concern. It’s a known endocrine disruptor that may contribute to physical and neurological problems during early developmental stages in a person’s life. Research has also shown it to interfere with proper thyroid function and possibly be carcinogenic.

And a few years ago, a paper published in Pediatrics confirmed that it is, in fact, released from some dental materials.

Dental resin composite that are tooth-colored materials have been considered as possible substitutes to mercury-containing silver amalgam filling.
Despite the fact that dental resin composites have improved their physico-chemical properties, the concern for its intrinsic toxicity remains high.
Some components of restorative composite resins are released in the oral environment initially during polymerization reaction and later due to degradation of the material.

Bisphenol A has been shown to:

· Increase diabetes risk
· Cause depression and hyperactivity in young girls of the BPA exposed mother
· Cause aggressive behavior and ADHD in male children.

On September 20, 2011, a major legislative health breakthrough occurred when the California Senate voted to ban Bisphenol A from baby bottles and sipping cups sold within the state. More recently, a group of 20 scientists are discussing with United States agencies to regulate the use of the chemical. This action move is after 20 years of research on the harmful effects of BPA and other chemicals.
